The Post Building is a transformation of a Royal Mail sorting office on New Oxford Street in central London. Previously the site had been derelict for over 20 years, but it has now been brought back to use, reconnecting the building with the city. This redevelopment is a mix of office, retail and residential areas and located at the intersection of five major roads in London.
In total, the mixed-use development accommodates eight floors for office use and seven floors for residential, including affordable housing provision. All above a variety of public uses including shops, cafes, galleries, and a GP surgery for the local community.
Cousins were chosen for our reputation and achieving the highest quality of workmanship. The project scope required us to carry out painting & decorating works throughout commercial and residential blocks.

Over 20 different colours and paint finishes were used throughout the project, with a large amount of cutting-in lines to ceilings, over six levels of the commercial build. At peak production Cousins operatives used over 500 Litres Zinsser all coat on a weekly basis, just for the ceilings.
High level (5.5m) ceilings were painted from scissor lift. For walls and woodwork throughout the residential and commercial areas main product used was Dulux. Epoxy floor coating to floors in basement was used for completing a large bicycle store, plant rooms and corridors.
The project was a success, and was awarded the Construction line Platinum award, as well as the Construction Line Gold Award.
