The redevelopment of The Royal Sussex County Hospital will replace all the buildings on the front of the main hospital. In their place will be 2 new clinical facilities, which will provide state-of-the-art accommodation. This is the first and largest of the redevelopment scheme, with an overall value of around £485m.

With decorations over thirteen floors, well over 5,000 rooms and a helipad, we are extremely proud to have been appointed to undertake the works on this project.

Project tasks and challenges

The areas consist of communal, collaboration spaces, staircases, research facilities, and treatment rooms providing the NHS with much-needed space.

Works included, but were not limited to walls, ceilings, Joinery and floors with some areas having specialist coatings such as the Theatre space, where hygienic coatings were applied.

Public areas, consultation rooms and the like were decorated in Johnstone’s Durable Acrylic Matt and water-based Satin for joinery, and Crown Paints scrubbable matt were used for feature walls, for which there are a multitude of colours.
