Project tasks and challenges
Works were required to three blocks of flats, on behalf of the management company. There were 44 balconies which had to be dismantled. Tanking works were carried out to each balcony as rainwater was entering the building.
The contract required us to strip all stonework and replace with new as well as dismantling the French doors to the apartments, so we could access the thresholds.
All existing slabs were required to be taken up for access, and stored safely for re-use, once the screed and tanking works was completed. Lastly, we removed the lower level brickwork to fit new cavity trays inside the balcony with drip details.
We then made good on the site, returning it to its original state.
Project results
All work was carried out considerately, as the apartment residents remained in their homes throughout the project.
The remedial work successfully addressed the widespread problem of water ingress.
