About the project
His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales formally opened the Oak Cancer Centre, which now serves as a hub for over 400 researchers from the Royal Marsden’s Sutton and Chelsea sites. The building has been specially designed to encourage collaboration, facilitating the rapid development of new cancer treatments. The centre was named in recognition of the Oak Foundations, who’s generous £25 million donation made a significant contribution to this project.
The 6-storey, 134,000 sq ft concrete frame structure also emphasises sustainability, with a target of achieving a BREEAN Excellent rating for environmental performance. As part of the broader “London Cancer Hub” the Oak Cancer Centre is set to become a key player in an emerging knowledge cluster, positioning itself as a global leader in cancer research, treatment, and innovation.
This modern, eco-conscious facility is a treatment to the cutting-edge research and care being undertaken at the Royal Marsden, continuing to lead advancements in Oncology.
