The scheme represents part of a wider redevelopment of Waterloo Station, where Network Rail is increasing capacity by bringing five former Eurostar platforms back into use for suburban trains in the hope of enabling more services to run from the station.

As part of the work, 40 new glass-fronted units will be created across three floors below the existing platforms.
